Contemporary Church Flower Stand

Church Floral Display Church Flower Stand

Great photos of our spiral flower stand insitu! The matt black powder coat finish gives this stand a smart, contemporary feel to it, while retaining the look of classic black ironwork. It has three 20 cm platforms, each with a rim; the top one is welded onto the box section upright, while the two on the side are removable, making this a really versatile stand. The 10mm square bar spiral sweeps around the platforms, drawing the eye over the whole piece. The base is cut from chunky 5 mm steel, so there’s a decent amount of weight at the bottom of the stand in order to keep it stable.

This display was done as part of a memorial service last weekend; I think they’ve done a fantastic job of it. Love how the bright colours contrast with the black metal, and the three tiers almost look to be floating.

These stands can be made to any size, though this one was 4’10″, in order for us to keep the final package under the 5ft limit for our regular courier. That’s the only problem with these stands – if I’m honest they are a bit of a nightmare to package!

The Perfect Gift for Motorcyclists

Bonneville Painted

This hand painted weathervane was ordered by one of our customers for her partners birthday.  This is the first hand painted motorcycle design we have produced, it did create some new challenges but we are very proud of the finished result.  Though this example is on a weathervane there is no reason we could not do a piece such as this on a house sign or even as a stand alone peice of wall art.  As you can see the level of detail included stands up to very close inspection.

This weathervane is based on a Triumph Bonneville, we had already done the initial siloutte design, which we have been producing both as a weathervane and house sign for a number of years now but in order to get the hand painted detailing correct we needed to do quite a bit more research.  Fortunately the customer started us off in the right direction by providing a couple of photographs of their bike so we could match the colour scheme.  One of the issues we had was how sucessful Triumph had been with the Bonneville over the years and as such how many variations have been produced.  The initial silhoutte was taken from a modern Hinckley built bike so there were various subtle differences we had to allow for, for example the kickstart was gone and the carbs. have now been replaced with fuel injection (albeit designed to look as close to the original as possible).  The other big difference with working on a motorcycle design (as oppose to a car or even animal) is the difference between one side of the bike and the other.  Not only in terms of the controls but also the engine casings, which were very different from one side to the other.  I hope we have done it justice and the customer has already been in touch to say how thrilled they are with it so we can get on with the next design with the satisfaction of a job well done.

We can do designs based on any motorcycle and with the correct photos or information can even colour match it to your bike and allow for any customisations to make it unique to you.  We have done a number of motorcycle designs in silhouette already, including a Harley Davidson, a Brough Superior, a Velocette and a number of designs based around TT legend Joey Dunlop.  The designs can be found using the link below, if you would like a different bike doing then please get in touch, we do not generally charge for design work as this is how we have built up our portfolio and will be more than happy to work with you to get the design just right.

Personalised House Sign

A unique house sign designed to reflect your personality and interests! Our customer has two Dachshunds; a mother and puppy, and she loves reading and Butterflies. Seemed like quite a challenge to combine these individual things into a design that makes some sort of sense, but really pleased with what we’ve come up with together. Having the books at different angles allowed us to emphasize the white of the pages, and picking out bits of detail on the spines of the books gives them loads more character. There are two butterflies separate from the main design which the customer can fix to her wall wherever suits it best. The great thing about laser cut designs is they are done on a computer, so we can send initial sketches over to the customer, so they can have some input at the early design stage, and work towards the final idea together. The most difficult part of this sign was in working out the text; I wanted it to fit in with the slight curve of the books’ spines, really challenging to warp the text at just the right angle so that it looks realistic, but I think it’s this attention to detail that makes this sign special. We think a bespoke sign like this would make a fantastic house warming gift!Personalised House Sign Photo

Fox and Badger Weathervane

Weathervane Image

Potentially a new favourite design – really love our Fox and Badger Weathervane! The Fox on his own has been one of our most popular weathervanes for a while, and I drew the Badger initially as part of some murals we produced recently, but the customer preferred the Fox as part of her wall art, leaving this Badger filed away on my computer. But then we were contacted by a lady asking for a weathervane design with a Fox and Badger together, so was no trouble to put them together with a bit of distinctive fern design as a bit of decoration. Was delighted to find a use for the Badger as I really like him! Reckon this design could look great incorporated into a swinging farm sign too.

Witch Weathervane

Witch Weathervane Image

Another great photo of our Witch Weathervane! I initially designed this for a lady in Spain; the design went back and forth a few times until it was just right, and now it’s one of our most popular weathervanes. Shown here on a sunny October day in Cheshire with gilded cardinal points (letters). Our witch weathervane can be ordered here.

Bespoke Wall Art Murals

Bespoke Wall Art Custom Gate Photo Bespoke Mural Bespoke Wall ArtBespoke Gate

Here are some photos of a fairly epic project that’s been nearly a year in the making. This week past couple of weeks we’ve taken a bit of a departure from our usual weathervanes and swinging farm signs, and filled the workshop with these enormous bespoke pieces of wall art. The theme for this project was ‘The Seasons’, and the sizes range from 160 cm high up to 210cm for the gate so there hasn’t been a lot of space for anything else recently!

We’re used to producing bespoke weathervanes drawings, where I’ll have to create a design based on a model of car, or breed of dog, but this project has been on a different scale altogether. The Spring mural shows a tree going from winter on the left, with all it’s branches bare, into Spring on the right of the piece, with buds, leaves and blossom developing. There’s a bird sat on a nest, and swallows returning from their winter migration. The focal point at the bottom of the piece is two star gazing Hares. The Summer mural shows an Oak tree in full bloom, with a design inspired by wildflowers around the base. Field mice, poppies and corn are also included as things associated with Summer, and the centre of the wall art depicts the legend of the Green Man. The Autumn Mural shows the leaves falling, and the full moon background suggests the nights closing in, with the Fox in the foreground as an example of a typically nocturnal animal.

The bespoke gate and side panel depict winter; a snow covered tree, the fox asleep below ground, and the whole piece decorated with snowflakes and holly. The top panel shows the phases of the moon. Phiz has done an amazing job in welding all these pieces together; it doesn’t look like it from the photos but the tolerances were actually very tight as it all needed to bolt together, and fit exactly in between the customer’s house and garage. The design work especially has taken absolutely ages, but we’re really proud of what we have created here, and it’s shown us what is possible both in terms of laser cutting and our skills in bringing a customers ideas to life. I’ve no doubt that these will look amazing on the wall in Carlisle when they are plated and powder coated, and would definitely take on another bespoke wall art project like this in the future.

And now back to the workshop where there are a large number of weathervanes and farm signs needing our attention!
